On March 27, 2026, Kenvue unveiled 20 clinical abstracts across the Neutrogena, Aveeno, and Rogaine portfolios at the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) annual meeting. With Galderma’s 22 abstracts the same week, two major consumer skincare companies released approximately 40 datasets at the same conference.

Neutrogena Collagen Bank Vitamin C Serum 15%

Neutrogena’s new Collagen Bank line uses a 15% vitamin C dual-action formulation. The “Bank” naming carries a clear message. The concept of “depositing” dermal collagen defines a preventive care category starting in the 30s.

Kenvue presented data at two levels. Both cellular and tissue models preserved epidermal barrier strength. This thread connects to Olay’s cell adhesion research the same quarter. Vitamin C is being redefined from a collagen synthesis stimulant alone into a multi-layered actor preserving cell adhesion and epidermal barrier proteins.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost, pre/post-procedure care data

The Neutrogena Hydro Boost line presented clinical results for pre and post-procedure use. Post-Fraxel laser, microneedling, and chemical peel use reduced redness appearance and optimized smoothness.

The implication is direct. As cosmetic procedures normalize, standards for post-procedure recovery care become necessary. Microneedling temporarily upregulates integrin expression, and during recovery, collagen and fibroblast bonding reorganizes. With this mechanism understood, recovery-period moisturizing prescriptions are gaining clinical data faster.

Neutrogena Clear Pore, 3.5% benzoyl peroxide

Neutrogena Clear Pore Cleanser/Mask uses 3.5% benzoyl peroxide. The formulation presented at AAD 2026 claims dual action for effective acne management while maintaining skin softness.

Benzoyl peroxide is a top-tier topical option for acne, but skin irritation is a common side effect. The 3.5% concentration is positioned as a balance point maintaining efficacy while reducing irritation. This parallels Galderma’s fourth-generation retinoid trifarotene. Both follow the same refinement direction, maintain efficacy and reduce irritation.

Aveeno’s microbiome announcement

Aveeno Skin Relief Healing Ointment uses a Triple Oat and glycerin formulation. Data demonstrated moisturization superiority versus a leading petrolatum ointment. This signals possible redefinition of barrier-recovery prescribing where petrolatum has been the standard moisturizing base.

Aveeno Calm & Restore is more interesting. The formulation using oat flour and oat beta glucan reportedly upregulates hyaluronic acid synthesis in fibroblasts. This is not a “topical hyaluronic acid application” formula but a “dermal hyaluronic acid synthesis stimulator.” The announcement is one step more refined at the mechanism level.

BEMT sunscreen ingredient, pursuing US approval

The most industry-significant element is BEMT (bis-ethylhexyloxyphenol methoxyphenyl triazine). BEMT is already approved in Europe and Korea as a broad-spectrum UV filter, but FDA approval has lagged in the US. At this conference, Kenvue presented research data supporting potential US approval.

If BEMT receives US approval, US sunscreen prescribing could shift significantly. BEMT offers superior UVA broad-spectrum protection and photostability compared to current US-approved actives like avobenzone. This could mark the inflection point narrowing the standard gap in the global sunscreen market.

5,000-respondent sun protection behavior survey

Kenvue’s accompanying consumer data is also instructive. In a 5,000-respondent sun protection behavior survey, only 17% of consumers ranked sun protection among their top 3 essential care steps. That means 87% of consumers place daily sun protection outside priority status.

When read together with Olay’s same-quarter finding that UV directly degrades cell adhesion proteins, this usage gap clarifies. The effects of cell adhesion, collagen preservation, and vitamin C prescribing all hinge on sun protection frequency. Closing the 87% usage gap is the primary variable determining the effect size of every other prescription.
